Medical Hypnosis

Optimal functioning of the nervous system, immune, and circulatory systems are necessary for health. When we are stressed, these systems may be compromised. While the traditional medical approach can be very helpful in the treatment of pain and diseases, when the psycho-emotional causes of diseases are also addressed with Medical Hypnosis, our medications and surgeries can be more effective. Therefore, although pain-killers, anti-depressants, and tranquilizers can be helpful, when combined with Medical Hypnosis, the results can be even better.

Medical hypnosis for the treatment of health conditions goes back a long way. In 1958, the American Medical Association (AMA) published a report that indicated that there can be “definite and proper uses of hypnosis in medical and dental practice.”

Medical hypnosis is a natural, non-surgical, non-pharmaceutical, non-narcotic treatment. Medical Hypnosis has been used in the treatment of Allergies, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Arthritis, Asthma, Bone Fracture Healing, Burns, Cancer Pain, Cancer Support, Cancer Survival, Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting, Childbirth, Chronic Pain, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Depression, Dermatitis, Dyspepsia, Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Hemophilia, Headaches, Hypertension, Impotence, Infertility, Insomnia, Incontinence, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Migraine Headaches, Multiple Sclerosis, Pain from dental procedures, Neuropathic Pain, Peptic Ulcer Disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Smoking Cessation, as the Soul Anesthesia for major Surgery, Surgical Recovery, Tinnitus, Weight Loss for Obesity and many other conditions as you can see in the published studies by clicking here.

Hypnosis is not like what you see in the movies. It is a natural state of selective, focused attention.  Our ability to enter this state opens the door to countless possibilities for healing, self-exploration and profound change.

Hypnosis has been recognized for thousands of years and used for many purposes.

Hypnosis allows us to regain control of our unwanted “automatic” behaviors that are very difficult to change using willpower alone.

Unfortunately, some myths still exist that are preventing patients from using this powerful treatment.

 Ten Myths About Medical Hypnosis:

Myth #1: The Hypnotist will be able to control my mind.

Fact: No one can control your mind unless you let them. Medical hypnosis is a way to regain more powerful control of your mind in a way that is safe and effective for many health conditions. If you hear a suggestion that you don’t agree with or don’t understand, your unconscious mind will automatically reject it, or just laugh at it.

Myth #2: I will be made to perform embarrassing acts, such as bark like a dog, or walk like a duck.

Fact: This assumption is based on Stage Hypnotism and Hollywood fiction. The truth is, stage hypnotists screen their volunteers to select those who are cooperative, with possible exhibitionist tendencies, as well as responsive to hypnosis. These selected subjects allow themselves to participate in acting out silly suggestions. Stage acts have created a myth about hypnosis that discourages people from seeking legitimate hypnosis. Hypnosis is a process of self-improvement, not entertainment, although you may find during your LaughGnosis session that you are the most entertaining actor of all!

Myth #3: Hypnosis comes from “Black Magic” or is “Supernatural.”

Fact: Hypnosis is a natural state that has been studied scientifically and validated. Hypnotists are not psychics or palm readers with “special powers.” Hypnosis is based on many years of clinical research by famous psychologists such as Dr. Sigmund Freud, Dr. Carl Jung, and Dr. Milton Erikson.

Myth #4: Hypnosis is a “Miracle Cure.”

Fact: While Hypnosis is a relatively quick method of making natural and permanent changes, there is no guarantee of a one-time miracle cure. Everyone makes progress at their own rate. The more you incorporate the principles of this book, the faster your progress will be.

Myth #5: I have never been in Hypnosis before.

Fact: Everyone naturally enters a state of hypnosis at least twice every day: just before falling asleep at night, and upon awaking every morning, before getting out of bed. Most people easily enter “Environmental Hypnosis” states while watching TV, driving on the highway, or reading a good book.

Myth #6: Hypnosis is a great tool to get someone to “confess.”

Fact: Hypnosis sessions are kept private and confidential. It cannot force anyone to “tell the truth” or to confess.

Myth #7: Self-Hypnosis is safer, better, or more effective than going to a trained professional.

Fact: Self-Hypnosis can be detrimental when not done by a trained professional. A negative attitude or belief about oneself can be reinforced regardless of suggestions given and can cause more problems in the long run.

Myth #8: I can’t be hypnotized because my mind is too strong.

Fact: The opposite is most often the case. A person with a strong mind can use this strength to allow the hypnosis to work more effectively and will get more out of each session. The stronger their will to change, the more effective the session will be when properly aligned with their higher purpose and the Will of God (which will be discussed before the session).

Myth #9: When hypnotized, I will lose all sense of my surroundings, and will have no memory of the session.

Fact: Hypnosis is not an unconscious state of sleep. In fact, most people report having a heightened sense of awareness, concentration, and focus. Hypnosis can give you a much higher perspective of reality that may be considered one step closer to God’s perspective. Laughter can help this process.

Myth #10: Hypnosis is Dangerous. If I become Hypnotized, I may not be able to “snap out of it.”

Fact: Hypnosis is very safe and is, in fact, a state of hyper-awareness. Any time there is an emergency, a person would naturally be able to come out of hypnosis by merely opening their eyes and stretching or speaking.

How Medical Hypnosis Can Help With Medical Conditions

As we have known for many years and as Western Science has finally confirmed, the mind and body are connected. The emotional centers in the brain are connected with the immune system and hormonal system of the body. Whenever we have an emotional response, our body is affected.

Research in PsychoEndoNeuroImmunology (PENI) shows that a patient’s emotional state can either cause disease, or may be turned around to help treat disease.

Functional MRI studies show us that every time we have a thought, different areas of our brain are flooded with an electrical current which stimulates the release neurochemicals. Every thought and experience causes the brain to rewire itself through a process called neuroplasticity. As we reprocess old experiences in a more productive way through Medical Hypnosis, we can regenerate new networks of neurons, and literally rewire our brain to normalize our body.

This means that we no longer need to experience the results of childhood trauma for the rest of our lives. As we reprocess those experiences in a more productive way, we can rewire our brain and improve our health.

By working with the mind-body connection, we offer treatments that can improve quality of life. When used along with other traditional and integrative interventions, the results can exceed expectations.

We are all taught that genetics is the cause of many diseases. But according to Epigenetics, although we may not be able to change our genetics, we can change how our genes are expressed.

The key to normalizing the production of neurotransmitters and hormones is by modifying the subconscious part of the mind that regulates them. The subconscious mind is essentially the master communication system within the brain which drives your thoughts, behavior and life. One way to rewire the mind is through hypnosis.

Medical hypnosis is a mental re-engineering technique that works to normalize the many systems of the body and help with the healing process as can be seen here.

Other strategies we use include:

How do these treatments help restore health?

Since our health is influenced by our mind, and since our mind is controlled by our subconscious thoughts and beliefs, a key to help restore health is by working with the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is the master communication system in the brain which drives your thoughts, beliefs and your physiology. One way to optimize its function is through Medical Hypnosis.

Hypnosis is a type of mental reengineering that works at the interface between the mind and body. PENI research has shown that by changing your feelings in a more positive way, this can improve your immune function. There are many studies on the efficacy of Medical hypnosis for health conditions which can be found by clicking here.

Link Between Heart Rate Variability Measurement With Hypnosis

We can monitor your heart rate variability to help guide your treatment. We do this because of the following studies:

Since many medical conditions can be adversely affected by emotional pain and since many forms of emotional pain can be effectively treated with hypnosis, many people with seemingly intractable diseases may be able to be treated with hypnosis.
